a solo show

Symbols of Transformation features a dynamic collection of work, simultaneously expanding on my personal mythology of the European hare (Lepus europaeus) as well as digging into the symbolism of the sandhill crane (Grus canadensis). The collection was born in the intersection of culminating several years of introspective study with analysis of world mythologies of the crane, especially as they relate to the transformation and transcendence of the soul.

Meticulously rendered largescale watercolors seek to bring to life what could be the developed field illustrations of interior-driven personal excavation. The interplay of the natural world and a dynamic atmosphere of dreams and emotion challenge the viewer to consider what of the image is natural fact and what of the image is preternatural or spiritual fact.
